Every year I strive to create the perfect holiday memories. Oodles of presents under the tree, yearly picture with Santa, Christmas decorations, participation in the church Christmas program, treats for the reindeer, making ginger bread houses... you get the picture. Not this year. This year I took a slower approach, a more relaxed approach. I only bought a few things that I know my kids wanted and a few that they needed; their lists were very short this year. I finished wrapping presents just 3 days before Christmas. The morning before their last day of school before the holiday break, my kids were getting ready and one of them said..."you better get to wrapping today". I informed her that all the presents were already wrapped and under the tree. That sure took her by surprise. Luckily for my heart she didn't seem disappointed just surprised at the difference from years past.
This year’s laid back Christmas season was a success! We had more focus on together time than creating the perfect Christmas. I think it would have made for the best Christmas yet if it wasn't for the cold season giving us a run of sniffles, sneezes and flu! One thing about the non-perfect times - they are the ones you remember best and often become some of the most cherished in the process.
